Description A fine and rare Indian Colonial Silver three piece tea set of a scale suited to a tisane. Made by Lattey Brothers & Co. of Calcutta, circa 1845. The set consists of a lidded teapot, a lidded milk pot and a covered sugar bowl. Standing on three cast feet, each piece is chased with scrolling foliage and has a gadrooned rim; lids are decorated with a cast finial formed as a flower. Each piece is fully marked on the base for Lattey Brothers & Co. which flourished in the period 1842-1856 from premises at 10 Government Place, Calcutta. The founding partners were: John Robert Pittar, Arthur Pittar Lattey, Robert John Lattey and Joseph Hayes. Individual weights: Lidded milk pot: 235 gm; Teapot: 291 gm; Covered sugar bowl: 243 gm. Total weight of set: 769 gm.
